Die International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) ist die einzige internationale, medizinische Organisation, die sich die Verhütung des Atomkriegs und die Abschaffung aller Atomwaffen zum Ziel gesetzt hat. Zehntausende Ärzte und Medizinstudierende in über 60 Ländern in allen fünf Kontinenten setzen sich für eine friedlichere und sicherere Welt ein - frei von der Bedrohung durch eine nukleare Vernichtung. Die IPPNW hat sich dazu verpflichtet, gegen die Kriege dieser Welt vorzugehen und durch eine Medizin in sozialer Verantwortung über die Entstehung von bewaffneten Auseinandersetzungen aufzuklären. Für ihr Engagement erhielt die Organisation 1985 den Friedensnobelpreis.
